I've always wanted to try birth photography...and perhaps someday I will. But at this point in my own family's life the logistics of being "on call" to photograph a birth isn't quite realistic. But there's something so magical and beautiful about the details in the very first hours of a new baby's life, don't you think? Let me introduce a different kind of newborn session. I'm going to call it a "First 48" session, with the intent that it would occur with in the first 48 hours of a new baby's entrance into the world. Capturing all of Baby's newborn goodness, but in more of a documentary style and less posed than one of my traditional newborn sessions. Might include a baby's first bath or the first time siblings meet the new baby. If you (or someone you know) are expecting a baby in the next few months, I'd love to chat more about whether or not a First 48 session is right for you. In the meantime...enjoy the magic of sweet Baby H's first photo shoot!

Baby H--17 hours old...a different kind of newborn session!
I'm not sure if it was due to pregnancy hormones or because this mommy is so special to me, but when I walked into the hospital room, I lost it. Like, real tears and shakey-voice emotional at the sight of my dear friend and her brand new baby boy. After I regained control of my emotions, I spent about an hour photographing perfect Baby H (just 17 hours after his birth) and gushing about how completely perfect he is.
