The Lovely Rena...90 years young!

When you turn 90, you have earned yourself a party, right?  A big ol' birthday celebration with as many of your favorite people you can fit in a house. With cake and candles, happy birthday songs and sweet gifts, surrounded by love and laughter at every turn.  And you ought to be able to sit there in the middle of the beautiful chaos of four generations, and watch what Love has done for your family. Watch your children come together to love on you.  Watch them love on their children and grandchildren.  Watch brothers and cousins and sons and fathers bond over a ping pong table.  Watch your granddaughters snuggle with your great grandchildren.  Watch the great grandchildren laugh and play and be silly and enjoy each other's company.  Watch the love that you built with the Lord's mercy and grace. And soak it in.  Because it's your birthday!  Your 90th birthday!  And you are blessed!

It was a huge honor to be able to photograph this birthday party for the lovely Rena!  Thank you for trusting me with the job of capturing these special moments!  Love you all!

A few of my favorite things...

I have a lot of favorite things, but these are top of mind right now...

1) So, of course these three are my favorites.  The one who has the kind of beauty and courage that brings tears to my eyes.  The one with the tender heart and constant smile.  And the little one who is showing us more of his personality each day.  Favorites.  I am incredibly blessed to be their mommy!

2) One of my very favorite things is photographing families and I am super excited to get "back on the horse" for 2015!  Many of you have asked and the answer is YES, Stacey Nichole Photography is up and running and ready to schedule your family/newborn/child session!  Shoot me an email and we'll get something on the calendar!  staceysutkowski@msn.com

3) This family you are about to see...for sure some of my favorite people ever!  As you'll soon see, they are beautiful and super easy to photograph.  But what you don't see is the beauty within.  They are thoughtful, encouraging, gracious, supportive, generous, and love-you-as-you-are kind of friends.

4) Another favorite?  Finding an amazing and unconventional spot for a session and it being JUST PERFECT!  Hooray for random, perfectly imperfect locations!  <3

Best of 2014

Happy New Year!  It has been an entire year since I last updated the blog.  A year of letting a few things go in order to tend to the things that needed me most.  A year of carefully saying "yes" only when I was sure it made sense for our family.  A year of dreaming and listening carefully to the Lord's purpose in all of this. (I am excited to share some of these dreams with you in the coming months!  2015 is going to be an exciting year!)

It was also a year of photographing gorgeous families I have grown to love so much!  Remember when I last wrote on this blog...and said that I'd be taking a break?  Yeah, well during that "break" I actually photographed 27 sessions!  I made the decision to not share as many beautiful images with you all throughout the year because honestly...the sharing takes time!  Time that this tired mama did not have in abundance.  But I DO want you to see what I've been up to and get a peek at the beautiful faces I had the pleasure of capturing with my camera last year!

So...without further ado...my favorite images from last year...Stacey Nichole Photography's Best of 2014:

The future for SNP...

True things:
  • I really enjoy photography, my clients, and capturing beautiful things with my camera.
  • I have THE best, most easy-going, understanding, fun and beautiful clients...many who have become dear friends!
  • Photography has been a wonderful break for me...a break from mommy-hood once a week, to get out of the house with no kiddos attached to me, to be creative.
  • The last several months since Mackenna's diagnosis in May have been the most challenging months we have experienced as a family.
  • Between mid-night feedings with Lucas and checking Mackenna's glucose, I have not slept more than 4 uninterrupted hours in...I don't know how long.  (And a 4 hour stretch is a rarity.)
  • Staying up late to edit images is cutting into the sleep my body needs in order to be the best mommy and wife I can be.
  • Children are young once.  My family needs me more than I need photography.
  • "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven."  Ecclesiastes 3:1
So, for now...I will be stepping away from Stacey Nichole Photography.*  It is hard to type that, but I know in my heart that it is the best thing for our family at this time.  Thank you for your support, encouragement, love, understanding.

(* I will continue to photograph clients who's little ones are currently enrolled in my milestone program.)

Happy Halloween!

We have a tradition that started when Mackenna was just one.  For five years, we have taken our kids to the same pumpkin patch in their Halloween costumes for some pictures.  This year we barely made it out there, and by the time we did (just this past Sunday) there were no pumpkins left!  ZERO!  So we could have taken these pictures in our back yard with no pumpkins and they would have looked about the same as these ones at the pumpkin patch with no pumpkins.  Oh well!  Lesson learned...we'll go earlier next year!
Happy Halloween...be safe tonight!
